A drag queen is an artist or performer who dresses and performs in extravagant and often exaggerated feminine clothing and makeup. These artists often perform comedic or dramatic acts on stage. Emphasis is placed on expressiveness, creativity and artistic expression. A drag queen is not necessarily transgender. She doesn't even have to identify as a woman. Their performance falls under the art form known as drag.
